Today our parents and grandparents are stronger and healthier than us and our children. A quick analysis will tell us that the changing lifestyle is one of the KEY reasons for this. With more of urbanization and modernization, our reliance on natural food is diminishing and everyone wants quick and ready-to-eat food. We feel out of place if we do not have access to Ready-to-eat food, microwave, refrigerator, pizza, burger, aerated drinks and so on in our daily life.

Most of us are in such a hurry that we end up eating pre-cooked OR semi-cooked food that can be refrigerated and further micro-waved when required. While we feel that the food is hot and steaming, a scientific analysis will reveal the degradation of nutrient levels in the micro-waved food. Many of our current health issues can be tackled by simply changing to HEALTHY eating. Very few people realize that our body needs fresh and natural food to build its defense mechanism against some of the diseases.

In a recent workshop, many children thought that vegetables mean tomato, carrot and Beans and some children believes that we get milk from milk booths and vegetables from vegetable shops. They have no idea about the farms where food is produced OR the variety of vegetables and fruits. No wonder the children do not associate fruits and vegetables as very essential elements of their life. The changed life style forces them to rely more on artificial supply of food and nutrient rather than relying on naturally available food. Many experts feel that this is one of the reasons why children DO NOT want to eat fresh fruits and vegetable, resulting in malnutrition.

Our Green School Program is targetting this section where we want to bring out the NURTURING AND CARING personality in every child. By doing this, we want to establish the link between farm and the child, let the child understand and appreciate the life cycle. In this program, each child gets started with a bigger picture of global warming, how we are contributing, how we can take small steps to reduce the impact of the same on us and our planet.

Our unique hands on workshops spread over a period 12 to 18 weeks per batch we will be engaging the children from planning phase till the harvest and even the consumption of vegetables grown by children. Children not only understand and appreciate the natural resources, but also understands and practices Organic Farming where they start off with compost preparation using the waste that is produced at schools and take home the vegetables grown by them for enjoying with their family.
